Price your own clip length

For one 8-second 1080p clip, Kling charges $0.896 at its base 1080p rate and Runway charges $0.80 at its cheapest 1080p row. Add native audio to Kling and the same clip is $1.344. Pick the wrong Runway model and the same 8 seconds costs $5.44.

That is the whole comparison: the spread inside each vendor is wider than the gap between them. Across the 21 per-second 1080p rows these two vendors publish, the range is $0.80 to $5.44.

Basis: 8 seconds at 1080p. Every figure below multiplies a published per-second rate by 8. Rows that do not state 1080p are excluded, not estimated.

Kling's own 1080p band: $0.896 to $2.24 — a 2.5× spread. Runway's 1080p band: $0.80 to $5.44 — a 6.8× spread.

At the entry price the two are within 10 cents of each other for 8 seconds. At the top of the range the most expensive row in this table is 6.8× the cheapest — and both extremes are Runway rows.

Why Kling's cheapest is not the headline

Kling's $0.896 clip is Kling 3.0 without native audio. Add native audio and it is $1.344, which puts it above three of Runway's ten 1080p rows. If your deliverable needs lip-synced speech, compare Kling's audio rows against Runway's, not against its silent rows.

Runway's $0.80 row is gemini_omni_flash_1.2 at 1080p — a Gemini model hosted on Runway, not a Runway model. Whether that matters depends on what you are buying: a rate on Runway's platform, or a specific model family.

The resale overlap

Runway hosts Kling models. Those rows are resale prices and are not Kling's official rates:

Model on Runway Runway rate Kling's own closest row
kling3.0_standard (no audio) $0.09/s Kling 3.0, no audio: $0.084/s at 720p, $0.112/s at 1080p
kling3.0_standard (audio) $0.13/s Kling 3.0, audio: $0.126/s at 720p, $0.168/s at 1080p
kling3.0_pro (no audio) $0.12/s same rows as above
kling3.0_pro (audio) $0.17/s same rows as above
kling3.0_4k $0.43/s Kling 3.0 4K: $0.42/s
kling_4 (720p / 1080p) $0.1256/s / $0.188/s no Kling 4 rows in the file

Two things to notice. Runway's Kling 3.0 rows do not state a resolution, so $0.09/s cannot be matched to Kling's $0.084/s or $0.112/s without guessing. And at 4K the resale price is $0.43 against Kling's $0.42 — a 2.4% markup.

Where this comparison breaks

Resolution. Runway's kling3.0_standard, kling3.0_pro, veo3.1 and gen4.5 rows carry no resolution in the price table. They are excluded from the table above and from every 1080p claim on this site.

Audio. Kling sells audio as a separate rate row; Runway's Kling rows split it too, but Runway's Veo rows use (audio) and (no audio) suffixes. Match the audio state before comparing.

Minimums. Runway's kling_4_flash bills a 29-credit minimum, which at 9.4 credits per second means any clip under 3.09 seconds costs 3.09 seconds' worth. Kling's rows carry no minimum in the file.

Clip length. Kling bills any length at its per-second rate. Runway bills any length but applies minimums on six models. At 8 seconds neither minimum binds.

Which to pick, on price alone

  • Lowest published 8-second 1080p price: Runway gemini_omni_flash_1.2, $0.80. It is a Gemini model on Runway's platform.
  • Lowest Kling 1080p price: $0.896 on Kling 3.0 without native audio, or on Avatar at 1080p.
  • Cheapest 1080p row that explicitly includes audio: Kling 3.0 Turbo with native audio at $0.14/s, $1.12.
  • Worst 8-second 1080p price in the file: Runway seedance2_5, $5.44.

FAQ

Is Kling cheaper than Runway?

At the entry 1080p rate, no: Runway's cheapest 1080p row is $0.80 for 8 seconds against Kling's $0.896, a 10-cent gap. But Kling's whole range at 1080p is $0.896 to $2.24, while Runway's is $0.80 to $5.44, so Kling is cheaper than most Runway rows and more expensive than the cheapest one.

Why does Kling appear on Runway?

Runway hosts third-party models and bills them at its own per-second rates. Those are resale prices. Kling's official API rates are on the Kling page, and they are not the same numbers.

Does one vendor include audio for free?

Neither does at 1080p. Kling adds 50% for native audio at that resolution; Runway's veo3.1 audio row is double its no-audio row, though that row does not state a resolution.

What about 4K?

Kling sells 4K at $0.42/s, which is $3.36 for 8 seconds. Runway's Kling 4K resale row is $0.43/s, and its own seedance2 4K row is $1.50/s.
