Runway's API runs from $0.02 to $1.50 per second of output. The floor is gemini_omni_flash_1.2 at 360p — $0.16 for an 8-second clip. The ceiling is seedance2 at 4K — $12.00 for the same 8 seconds. At 1080p, the band narrows to $0.10–$0.68 per second, or $0.80–$5.44 per 8-second clip.
Runway prices per second, so clip length multiplies the rate directly. Several rows also carry a credit minimum that overrides the multiplication on short clips; those are listed further down.
How Runway bills
Runway quotes every model in credits. One credit is $0.01, so a row listed at 18.8 credits per second bills $0.188 per second. The Credits per unit column below is that credit count; the Price column is the dollar equivalent Runway's own pricing page implies.
Some rows add credits that are not in the per-second rate: one credit per reference image on most Gemini rows, two on hailuo3, and for video-to-video models, input video billed at the same per-second rate as output. The rate you see is the rate for output seconds only.
Price gap to the next tier
Same model, one resolution step up. This is the table to read before you default to 1080p or 4K.
| Family | Lowest tier | Middle tier | Top tier |
|---|---|---|---|
gemini_omni_flash_1.2 |
360p $0.02 | 720p $0.07 (3.5×) | 1080p $0.10 (1.43×), 4K $0.21 (2.1×) |
gemini_omni_flash_1.1 |
360p $0.034 | 720p $0.10 (2.94×) | 1080p $0.15 (1.5×), 4K $0.30 (2×) |
grok_imagine_1_5_lite |
480p $0.02 | 720p $0.03 (1.5×) | 1080p $0.14 (4.67×) |

seedance2 |
480p $0.14 | 720p $0.30 (2.14×) | 1080p $0.40 (1.33×), 4K $1.50 (3.75×) |
seedance2_5 |
480p $0.20 | 720p $0.30 (1.5×) | 1080p $0.68 (2.27×) |

hailuo3 |
— | 768p $0.10 | 2K $0.15 (1.5×) |
Two steps are worth memorising. seedance2 at 1080p costs $0.40/s but the 4K row costs $1.50/s — the last step is 3.75× for a tier most short-form work never needs. And grok_imagine_1_5_lite is a trap for anyone who prices at 720p: $0.03/s becomes $0.14/s at 1080p, a 4.67× jump.
Audio costs extra on four rows
| Model | No audio | With audio | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
veo3.1 |

veo3.1_fast |
$0.10/s | $0.15/s | 1.5× |
kling3.0_pro |

kling3.0_standard |
$0.09/s | $0.13/s | 1.44× |
Minimums that override the per-second math
Six models bill a floor even when the clip is shorter than the floor implies. Seven rows appear because seedance2 has two tiers at different rates.
| Model | Minimum | Rate | Minimum equals | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
aleph2 |
56 credits ($0.56) | 28 cr/s | 2s | any clip under 2s bills $0.56 |
seedance2 (480p) |
56 credits ($0.56) | 14 cr/s | 4s | any clip under 4s bills $0.56 |
seedance2 (720p) |
56 credits ($0.56) | 30 cr/s | 1.87s | short clips bill $0.56 |
seedance2_5 (480p) |
80 credits ($0.80) | 20 cr/s | 4s | any clip under 4s bills $0.80 |
seedance2_fast (480p) |
44 credits ($0.44) | 11 cr/s | 4s | any clip under 4s bills $0.44 |
seedance2_mini (480p) |
28 credits ($0.28) | 7 cr/s | 4s | any clip under 4s bills $0.28 |
kling_4_flash (720p) |
29 credits ($0.29) | 9.4 cr/s | 3.09s | rounds up to the next credit |
Above those thresholds the minimum has no effect, so an 8-second clip is billed as 8 seconds.
Money-saving notes
- Stay at 1080p unless the deliverable is 4K.
gemini_omni_flash_1.2goes from $0.10/s to $0.21/s,seedance2from $0.40/s to $1.50/s. - Use the lite or flash variant for drafts.
kling_4_flashat 720p is $0.094/s againstkling_4at 720p $0.1256/s, 25% cheaper;seedance2_miniat 720p is $0.15/s againstseedance2at 720p $0.30/s. - Turn audio off when you plan to dub.
veo3.1audio doubles the rate. kling_4is promotional. It is 20% off through 2026-11-30 UTC. The list rates are 23.5 credits per second at 1080p ($0.235/s) and 15.7 at 720p ($0.157/s), so budget for the reversion.- Avoid
seedance2_5for long batches. At 1080p it is $0.68/s, 1.7× theseedance21080p rate.
Worked example
40 clips, 8 seconds each, 1080p, kling_4:
40 × 8s × $0.188/s = $60.16
The same batch on gemini_omni_flash_1.2 at 1080p is 40 × 8 × $0.10 = $32.00. On seedance2_5 at 1080p it is 40 × 8 × $0.68 = $217.60.
FAQ
Does Runway charge per second or per generation?
Per second of output, at 1 credit = $0.01. The exception is the six models with credit minimums, which charge a floor on short clips.
What is the cheapest Runway model?
gemini_omni_flash_1.2 at 360p, $0.02 per second. At 1080p the same model is $0.10 per second, which is still the cheapest 1080p row in the file.
Why do some rows have no resolution listed?
Because Runway's pricing table gives a single rate for them (gen4.5, aleph2, kling3.0_pro, kling3.0_standard, veo3.1, act_two and others). We don't infer a resolution that isn't published, so those rows show "not stated" and are excluded from resolution comparisons.
Do the Kling and Veo rows on Runway mean Runway owns those models?
No. Runway hosts third-party models and bills them at its own per-second rate. Those rows are a resale price, not Kling's or Google's official rate. Compare them side by side on the Kling page and Veo page before choosing.
Source. Runway pricing page, https://docs.dev.runwayml.com/guides/pricing/, read on 2026-11-08. 60 rows, USD, excluding tax. Failed or unbilled generations are not included in any figure here.
